Gatorade México: Special Edition Football Packaging & Illustration
Gatorade, the global leader in sports hydration, commissioned Imaginity to design a high-impact special edition packaging line for the Mexican market. Tasked with celebrating the region's deep-rooted passion for football (soccer), we developed three distinct designs for their core flavors: Lemon-Lime, Fruit Punch, and Grape. The project serves as a premier example of Packvertising, where the packaging itself functions as the primary advertising vehicle to reinforce Gatorade’s status as the ultimate "National Sport" partner.

Visual Highlights

Custom Sport Illustrations: Bespoke, high-energy digital artwork of star players (including Jürgen Damm) and iconic teams like Chivas de Guadalajara and Rayados de Monterrey.

Flavor-Coded Color Systems: A strategic layout ensuring that while the football imagery is the hero, the three distinct flavors remain easily identifiable for the consumer.

1. The Branding Challenge: Authenticity Without a Photoshoot
The primary objective was to create a visual identity that resonated authentically with Mexican football fans. A significant technical challenge arose: we needed to represent specific star players and teams without the availability of a dedicated photoshoot.
As a strategic packaging agency, we had to bridge this gap while maintaining the high-fidelity aesthetic expected of a global brand like PepsiCo.

2. Our Design Process: From Athletic Insight to Digital Art
Our team spearheaded a creative solution by collaborating with a specialized sports illustrator. We recreated the "combo images" through detailed digital rendering, capturing the likeness and intensity of the players and the pride of the jerseys.
This approach allowed for greater creative control over lighting and "heroic" proportions than a traditional photo might offer. By integrating these illustrations into a Packvertising framework, we ensured that every bottle served as a motivational touchpoint for the athlete-consumer.

3. The Outcome: A High-Impact Connection with the Fanbase
The result is a visually arresting, unique, and cohesive packaging collection that successfully deepened the emotional link between Gatorade and Mexican sports culture. Each flavor and team is instantly recognizable, simplifying the consumer's choice while maximizing brand loyalty.
This project demonstrates Imaginity’s ability to use innovative illustration and structural design to solve complex production hurdles, delivering a result that is both a functional beverage and a piece of brand storytelling.
